There have been times in college when a course was required and I thought to myself “when on earth am I ever going to use this?” After just a short time in ITEC 740, Internet tools in the Classroom I knew this was NOT going to be one of those classes. From the onset of the class it was evident that this class had true classroom application from the design of the course, to the content of the class, and even the professor herself. All components of this course worked cohesively to give me a productive experience.
The course design seemed to be perfect for a course like this. Throughout the semester it was easy to follow, and although there was much content given, due to the delivery the learning curve seemed slight.
The content of the course was relevant and challenging each week. I was constantly interested in what new Web 2.0 tool I was now going to be able to say I could use! I also really enjoyed the fact that we had to show we understood how to use and implement the tools is a “real” way. There were a few times over the course of the semester when we were asked to pull formerly learned tools out of our “toolbox” and implement them. I especially like that, because sit helped to reinforce what I learned earlier in the semester.
Finally, Dr. Friazer seemed to be the perfect fit as the professor for this course. She had high standards, all specifically laid out from the beginning, but was also realistic with about other responsibilities graduate students may have. Her content knowledge combined with her professional perspective helped to make this course successful.
Overall this is one of the most useful courses I have taken in all my years of schooling, and look forward continuing to implementing the tools I learned into my classroom.
